Hello, I am Lolakwentosera 👋

Just like anyone, Lolakwentosera experienced how life pushed her so hard against the wall that she considered committing suicide as her only way out. Traumatized as a young girl while living in jail with her criminal mother for six years and surviving various heartbreaks -- depression, anxiety, compulsion, impulsiveness, and anger were emotions that fueled her bouts of mental breakdowns.

This is the reason why Lolakwentosera is one with you as you go through the emotional roller-coaster ride that continues to pull you down and stop you from journeying toward your desired future. If there is one thing that Lolakwentosera regrets in life, it was cradling her victim mentality for so long that healing took time to happen. The idea that we are alone in these mental health struggles can lead us to bottle up our emotions and fall into isolation.

Believing that you are alone in this fight can develop victimhood thinking. Yes, you are a victim and yes, you are hurting, but you can invest in your pain and turn your victimhood into a life of victory. The road to victory from a victim mentality is not an easy trek to follow, but as Lolakwentosera started opening her wounds from the past and faced her traumas in life, she found healing by sharing.

Writing Sino Ang Dakila? Sino Ang Tunay Na Baliw? took her to the road of healing despite confronting her greatest pain. To share each other's pain and find healing in each other love because there is a God who loves us, is the main goal of this book.

Lolakwentosera is Amelia De Chavez Pagdanganan's pen name. An academician for over twenty years, she discontinued her doctorate study in Information Technology in pursuit of a basic understanding of the human psyche. A life-turning decision led her to go back to college and study Psychology, instead. Armed with knowledge, experience, and faith in God, she created programs prioritizing mental health care of students, parents, and teachers and expanding the same to the corporate world.​

✅ Ano Ba Ang Mental Health? 

Sinasabing healthy ang iyong isipan kapag ang iyong emotional, psychological, and social well-being ay nasa magandang sitwasyon o kundisyon. Kapag malusog kasi ang iyong isipan ay madali mong ma-handle ang stress, maunawaan o pakisamahan ang mga tao sa paligid mo, at higit sa lahat, sound ang iyong decision making process.

Kapag dumating na sa puntong nagiging negatibo ang iyong emosyon, may hindi pagkaka-unawaan sa iyong relasyon, at mali-mali na ang mga desisyon mo sa buhay, maaaring ikaw ay magkaroon ng mental health breakdown or ang tawag ni Lolakwentosera ay paglalagnat ng iyong isipan.

Ibig sabihin dapat natin itong lapatan ng first aid or kaukulang pansin para maibalik sa tamang kundisyon ang ating isipan.

✅ Bakit mahalagang pag-usapan ang Mental Health?

Ang mental health ay kasing halaga ng ating healthy body, lamang ay madaling maramdaman ng katawan kapag hindi maganda ang timpla ng iyong kalusugan. Hindi ito madaling masabi pagdating sa isipang wala sa tamang kundisyon. Pwedeng masaya ang kausap mo ngayon pero meron pala itong itinatagong depresyon at nahihiya lamang humingi ng tulong.

Maaari ring ikaw ay dumaranas na pala ng matinding anxiety pero inaakala mong inaatake ka na sa puso, yun pala ay nag-papanic attack ka dahil sa isang bagay na sobrang pinagtutuunan mo ng matinding pag-iisip.

Kailangang bukas nating pag-usapan ang tungkol sa mental health dahil marami pa ring tao ang may maling information at pananaw patungkol dito.​

Naki-glimpse ang anak kong 6 years old dahil nakita n'ya kong nagbabasa at na-curious sya bakit may Disney Princesses. The book was very enjoyable to read. Kung baga sa sandwich, hitik sa palaman at masustansyang gulay and as I said in my post when I bought your book, I found myself a connection.

I tried many ways to feel worthy and deserving for love that wasn't available during early childhood. This is one of my good books. I experience a low emotional fulfillment resulting in self-sabotaging myself.  Also people pleasing, over giver, and validation seeker.

In every part of your book there is a strike; every trigger, every flashbacks, every tear I shed leads me to heal more and more. Just like you I am still a work in progress by God.

Gaya mo nagsimula naman ako noong 2008, after High School, when I challenge God, and He never ceases to amaze me ngayong may anak na akong 2 babae at lalaki. Marami rin kaming little miracles in the midst of roller coaster ride. Lalo Niya akong pino-provide ng strength and wisdom.

Hiniling ko naman sa Kanya 'yun noong bata ako (12 years old) na sangkaterba ang problema na parang magcocolapse na ako kasi parang unending. Akala ko di N'ya ko naririnig kaya lumaki akong rebelde sa Kanya.

Pero those challenges I faced and traumas that happened might caused me to have PTSD with Dysthymia, a little ADD and OCD combined but Jeremiah 29:11 said He knows His plans I have for you and so I trust minsan tama ka, nababaliw ang pakiramdam ko.

Hindi naman naubos ang problema ko up to now but I can hear answers from Him on and on, unti-unti as I wait. And truly He regains my strength and gives me wisdom to face another and another and another challenges.

Proverbs 3:5 said, "Rely on God rather than your own understanding, and you will see God's deeds" and James 1:5 said, "If any of you needs wisdom, ask God." Ilan lang iyan sa mga hinahawakan kong verse gaya mo para maka-survive sa crazy world we live in.

Para akong nakahanap ng kakampi sa librong ito dahil ilang linggo na akong nagdadrama kay God for some reasons.

Minsan gaya nga nang sabi mo sa book --- di lahat ng tao tanggap ang Mental illness and maraming stigma. Isa rin akong Mental Health Advocate pero di mo mapipilit kapag sarado ang mga tao. Tuloy-tuloy lang rin naman ako sa pag-share. Malay ko ba kung may isa o dalawang nakabasa na may kailangan kahit na walang likes o seen.

About The Author

Amelia D. Pagdanganan (known as Lolakwentosera) has been in the academe for more than 20 years now from a college instructor to becoming a school president. For the past ten years, she has been conducting teen empowerment workshops tackling various subjects addressing teenage angst, body issues, relationship matters, as well as mental health.

She's also an active member of MySTIque Coolture Toastmasters Club which she had represented when she competed and won the 2015 National Championship title as International Speaker. Furthermore, she had represented the country in the same competition held in Washington D.C. USA in 2016.

She has a degree in Master of Information Technology to which she also earned doctorate units. Currently, she studies AB Psychology as part of pursuing her passion for learning.​

2017 was a difficult year for me. My job as School President took a toll on me that I developed panic attacks, extreme acid reflux, and hyperventilation. Gumigising ako sa umaga na walang ganang pumasok sa trabaho at maisip ko pa lang na nasa opisina ako ay nakakapagod na. I was so depreseed to the point that I imagined crashing my car while driving along EDSA off to work just to escape the feeling of extreme anxiety. What's worse is that my daughter was with me on the passenger seat as I was having thoughts of suicide.

That's when I had my wake up call. It's been a long time since I first had thoughts of suicide. Yes, I am one of those who welcome the thoughts of killing or hurting myself as a way of escaping from my problems.

Some of you reading this would say, "Sus, easy problem. Just quit your job!" The same thought ntered my mind, but the truth is, I am very lucky with the boss that I have and the company that I am with. I was struggling simply because I had to face a work fight that I could not back out from no matter what.

I also knew that my work battles were temporary, I just had to toughen myself up. Still, the thoughts of suicide were very persistent.

Fortunately, in my case, kahit mayroon akong overwhelming reason and a mean, wala naman akong WILL POWER to harm myself. Alam ko kasi deep within me that having thoughts of suicide DOES NOT always mean I AM CLINICALLY INSANE. I am just simply experiencing an episode of MENTAL BREAKDOWN.

Sa tuwing nangyayari ito sa akin, I know that I just need a powerful wake up call to pull me out of my dark thoughts.

My personal wake up call did not come like a bolt of lightning. It came slowly, intertwining with my daily struggles until a POWERFUL FORCE intervened not to squash away my struggles, but to give my strength to continue and rise about the pain and hurt that I was feeling.
